WHAT IS IT?

the intriguing story behind
this futuristic device.
QOnly a fraction of red snappers are caught and taken by recreational anglers when compared to com- mercial fishing. “We must now find a permanent solution to the problem. Recreational anglers deserve a more consistent fish-
ery management approach,” Angers
said. “The commonsense, long-term
solution is to turn the Gulf red snapper
recreational fishery over to the states.
The five Gulf states have a proven track
record of allowing reasonable public
access to healthy fish stocks off their
coasts, and they are far more in touch
with the recreational fishing commu-
nity than the Gulf of Mexico Fishery
Management Council.” — R.A.

TO THE EXTREME
The Chain of Records is a watercentric group obsessed with set-
ting ski records. When the team converged on multiple lakes in
Polk County, Florida, this year, more than 31 records were broken
(unofficially, pending certification). As you can see, it takes a lot
of horsepower to pull all of these barefoot skiers at once. The
complete list of records pending certification can be found at
chainofrecords.com, which includes a link to the organization’s
You Tube page with videos of all the action. — R.A.
